At GRYD, our story is rooted in the rolling fairways and sun-soaked greens of Montgomery County, Maryland. My earliest memories of golf are steeped in those local courses, playing alongside my dad and godfather. Those hot summer days were filled with crowded courses, dozens of lost balls, and a mandatory half smoke on the turn. Despite the frustrations, something about the game kept pulling us back. Even as a kid, I knew that the camaraderie and simple pleasures of golf were something special.
Years later, the game found me again—this time in the snow-covered courses of Syracuse, NY. My roommates and I, hailing from Thailand, the Philippines, and Upstate New York, booked a tee time that would change everything. Just four holes in, and we were hooked. That rekindled passion followed me beyond graduation, leading me to golf ranges, company leagues, and even to reconnecting with childhood friends who, like me, had quietly become golf fanatics.
For me, golf is more than just a game; it’s an oasis. The moment I step onto a course, the world outside fades away. Whether I’m refining my swing or playing a quick nine to clear my head, there's no place I feel more at home. Golf is about the people you meet, the bonds you forge, and the memories you create—and of course those unforgettable shots that keep you coming back for more. Golf to me, will forever and always be those Saturday rounds with my dad and Godfather.
